Aspen, CO, September 24, 2024 – Aspen Words, a program of The Aspen Institute, announces the inaugural Aspen Literary Festival (ALF), presented by Book of the Month, a multi-day celebration of readers, writers and the power of stories, scheduled to take place September 26-28, 2025, in downtown Aspen, Colorado.

Aspen Words, which marks its 50th anniversary next year, will welcome more than 40 nationally recognized, regional and local novelists and other authors to the festival for engaging conversations, book signings and other literary activities. In addition, the festival will include art activations, food trucks, parties, an onsite bookstore and other programming for adults and families alike. The majority of events will be open to the public and free of charge.

“Our inspiration for launching the Aspen Literary Festival comes from a desire to create a vibrant space where books and community intersect. We believe in the power of stories to bring people together, spark dialogue and broaden perspectives,” said Adrienne Brodeur, Executive Director of Aspen Words. “By hosting a festival that combines engaging conversations, interactive events and a lively group of authors, we aim to make literature accessible, relevant and fun for everyone—enriching both our local community and the literary world at large.”

Title sponsor Book of the Month will bring a number of bestselling and emerging novelists to the festival. CEO John Lippman and Editorial Director Brianna Goodman will serve as co-chairs of the festival and help shape programming.

“Aspen Words is thrilled to have Book of the Month as the title sponsor of our inaugural festival. Their commitment to championing new voices and fostering a love of reading aligns perfectly with our mission, and together, we plan to create a dynamic, engaging and fun celebration of literature that will inspire and connect readers of all ages” said Brodeur.

“Collaborating with Aspen Words to launch the Aspen Literary Festival is a very cool opportunity for Book of the Month that aligns perfectly with our mission to bring the best new fiction forward. We’re excited to work with Adrienne and her team to create a festival that is as fun and inspiring as its beautiful mountain setting,” said Lippman.

The festival lineup, venues and more program information will be announced in spring 2025 at aspenwords.org.
