Supporting Moldova Increase its Societal and Democratic Resilience

In a world increasingly defined by fragmentation, volatility, and rapid technological change, Moldova stands at the crossroads of multiple transitions: democratic, economic, institutional, and digital. Its European path—officially set in motion by EU candidate status—coincides with deep structural challenges at home and widening global contestation abroad. At the same time, the resilience of Moldova’s democratic institutions and civic fabric is being tested by foreign interference, societal fatigue, economic pressure, and shifting global norms.

The 2025 edition of this high-level seminar will convene around 25 participants—public officials, private sector leaders, civil society representatives, and academics—for a Socratic-style exchange anchored in values, critical inquiry, and reflective dialogue. Inspired by the Aspen Institute method, the conversation will blend timely analysis with enduring questions about governance, identity, resilience, and trust.

Together, participants will explore what it means to pursue societal and democratic resilience in Moldova today—not just as a policy ambition, but as a civic and moral challenge. The aim is to cultivate common understanding across sectors, generate fresh insight, and build shared responsibility for the country’s future.
